Bug Description

Binary package hint: mutter

Description: Ubuntu maverick (development branch)
Release: 10.10

$ apt-cache policy mutter
mutter:
  Installed: 2.31.5-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 2.31.5-0ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 2.31.5-0ubuntu4 0
        500 http://mirrors.cat.pdx.edu/ubuntu/ maverick/main i386 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Mutter seems to eat up more and more memory as times goes by. If you click on "Files and Folder" then go back to lets say terminal memory gets used more ane more as time goes by. If you do a kill -HUP mutter it goes back to normal.

Let me know how else I can provide logs/details.

Ahh sorry. Correct. This is on a netbook using the latest netbook release. If you click "Files and Folder" in the launchpad go to couple of directories then exit out of it back to the main desktop you get the symptom above. I also noticed that it does no close when we exit.

MacSlow: There seems to be another leak here. Could you take a look with your valgrind eyes and see whether it's related to the Intel one you already traced? Thanks

This bug was fixed in the package unity - 0.2.34-0ubuntu1

---------------
unity (0.2.34-0ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
    - Use gettext plural form (LP: #625199)
    - Fix newly pinned app is removed from the launcher on closing that app but
      works fine afterward (LP: #614329)
    - Fix Memory leak in places (LP: #628588)
  * remove debian/source/:
    - revert to previous format, seems to confuse daily build and we don't have
      anymore bin patch
  * remove upstreamed debian/trash.png, debian/applications.png and
    debian/files.png
  * debian/rules:
    - remove copying debian/*png
  * debian/libunity0.symbols:
    - refreshed
