Bug Description

medium: screen
application: Firefox 3.6.8 on Lucid

Character "l" leans less to the right when is after "f" than when is after other characters. Screenshot is from 14pt Italic but this problem is visible with some other sizes. See screenshot please.

The character is the same. It appears visually different due to the negative space around the f which is not present after other characters.

Please, look at the screenshot and notice how characters "li" look when they're after "f" and when after "g" for example. It really IS a difference. Bottom of "l" almost touches "i" when after "f" and is far away when is after "g".

I've just checked this on Chromium and there's everything fine. Maybe it's only Firefox problem.

I can confirm for Midori browser (its use WebKit like a Chrome/Chromium) for hintfull style. Its look like a slope little different to some pairs of "l" wit "t,i,f". Its not only "due to the negative space around the f" - take a look at 19px size.

I think that problem not in glyphs, but in mechanism of font rendering. I find another problem with slope, but there problem with other glyphs - with "u". (see screenshot)

app: gtk
hintstyle: full (checked - with hintstyle slight there are no problem)

I think the hintstyle-full piece is the critical bit, folks trying to
reproduce the bug should make sure they have that bit set.

To confirm, this is easy to reproduce in 9px, and definitely a problem
