Binary package hint: ubiquity
In "Allocate drive space" window I chose " Install them side by side, chosing between them each startup ".
In the next window I click on the written " 1 smaller partition is hidden, use the advanced partitioning tool for more control "
The window of "manual partitioning" appear and few seconds after apport popup, but I still able to setting the partitioning, and when i click Install now, installation go on smoothly till the end.

I encountered the same error with the i386 08-27 daily build, but I had first booted into the Live Desktop and updated ubiquity to version 2.3.9.
In my case the crash notification popped up almost immediately after selecting "Specify partitions manually (advanced)". I had not even clicked on Install Now yet.
