Upgrading from 8.04 to 10.04. Expected it to work. Upgrade failed.

  from succeeding:
  - debian/control: Added libpam-runtime (LP BUG 627272, LP BUG 625105)

Summary: likewise-open did not declare a dependency on libpam-runtime for pam-auth-update and now it does (in that branch)

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

Is this still an issue for you on Ubuntu 12.04 or above?
