Wouldn't update firefox 3.0 to firefox 3.5in update manager on Ubuntu 9.10 July 26 2010 12:30am. Something about broken packages.

I experienced the same issue and did:

$ sudo aptitude remove firefox

$ sudo aptitude install firefox

Upon the install command I was presented with:

When I ran the remove script I got this:

I went ahead with the removal and went with the install of firefox 3.5 and

The updated firefox package is based on the Lucid packaging, and thus is not parallel installable with the firefox-2 package from hardy. firefox-2 was removed from the archive in Intrepid, and you should remove firefox-2 to fix your current issue. We will ship an update to add the appropriate conflicts to ensure that this happens automatically
