Bug Description

It is not possible to change the font size of Empathy chats in the Empathy preferences window. You can only change it by adapting the theme's XML file, but that is not what we want to force users to do, especially when users have problems with their eye-sight and need larger fonts.

Thank you for helping with making Ubuntu and its IM client Empathy better by reporting this bug. It is most certainly a valid paper cut and an accessibility issue as well.

I'm accepting this as a paper cut and am reporting this upstream if it hasn't been done already. Thank you!

Is it policy to mark duplicate bugs as Invalid? That would be new to me, I've always been taught that the status should never be changed to make it easier to continue the bug discussion if it turns out to be not a duplicate after all.

unless the bug is marked invalid people tend to make comments on duplicate
bugs too. it happens quite a lot

@Omer: Hmm? This has discussed this several times. we are *not* supposed to mark bugs invalid when duplicating. [irrespective of where users comment.] And further when duplicating the tasks need to be carried over to the main bug.

@Omer Akram:
If you are facing problems with users commenting on dups , it is due to the comment does not have complete response.
It would be better to use the proper *complete* reply informing them not to comment on the dup.

Which is why we already have the reply template for that , https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Responses#A%20duplicate :

"Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug NUMBER, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. Additionally, any further discussion regarding the bug should occur in the other report. Please continue to report any other bugs you may find."

It informs user to comment on main bug.

Changed in empathy (Ubuntu):
status: Invalid → Triaged

Sorry, Maek for the inconvenience.

Don't mind.
The only thing that cares is that this bug (or the duplicate one) will
be fixed ASAP to improve the end-user's experience :)

ps: I think it may be a good idea to leave it active on the
one-hundred-paper-cuts list
