Bug Description

I downloaded 10.5 to a Vista machine. Will start up fine. We had to go to text mode to update milky way intensity (thanks for that other bug report). fine. (although sometimes it doesn't seem to want to save it). However, if I then choose "spheric mirror distorter" and select "save defaults" then it won't restart. Apparently it is trying to write something to the desktop and doesn't have permission. Interestingly, we are also having the same trouble with a Mac... if we select spheric mirror, then it won't restart. Any other choices are happy ones.

Here is the log:

Writing log file to: "C:/Users/DiscoveryDome/AppData/Roaming/Stellarium/log.txt"
File search paths:
  0 . "C:\Users\DiscoveryDome\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium"
  1 . "."
Config file is: "C:\Users\DiscoveryDome\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium/config.ini"
WARNING StelFileMgr::setScreenshotDir dir is not writable: "C:/Users/DiscoveryDome/Desktop"
WARNING: problem while setting screenshot from config file setting: NOT_VALID
Qt GL paint engine is: "OpenGL2"
Use OpenGL framebuffer objects for viewport effect: "sphericMirrorDistorter"

I can confirm this on my Ubuntu 10.04.

I don't think that the "can't write to desktop" thing is relevant - it's just the default directory for saving screenshots on Windows. We should change it to "My Pictures/Stellarium Screenshots" or something.

Thanks. This is pretty critical to us since we use it in a number of planetariums. I may look at Nightshade....
Basically we are stuck at 0.9.1 since none of the 10's boost the milky way for us enough to see on the domes.
And that means that scripts are really tricky since the text menu is offscreen when in mirror mode.
Do you think trying without OpenGL2 would help? How can we download that version for mac or win?

I also can't reopen Stellarium 10.5 after selecting 'spheric mirror distorter'. How can I implement Mr. Chereau's revisions, linked in #3?

"How can I implement Mr. Chereau's revisions, linked in #3?"

You can either:
- check out Stellarium's code and build it, or
- if you are using Windows, you can wait for me to upload a test build
(tomorrow evening, my time).

I have uploaded a test build that includes the fix:

Look for "bzr4715" or anything with a greater (revision) number.
