Bug Description
I downloaded 10.5 to a Vista machine. Will start up fine. We had to go to text mode to update milky way intensity (thanks for that other bug report). fine. (although sometimes it doesn't seem to want to save it). However, if I then choose "spheric mirror distorter" and select "save defaults" then it won't restart. Apparently it is trying to write something to the desktop and doesn't have permission. Interestingly, we are also having the same trouble with a Mac... if we select spheric mirror, then it won't restart. Any other choices are happy ones.

I can confirm this on my Ubuntu 10.04.
I don't think that the "can't write to desktop" thing is relevant - it's just the default directory for saving screenshots on Windows. We should change it to "My Pictures/Stellarium Screenshots" or something.
