Bug Description

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid, with X.org 1:7.5+5ubuntu1, an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 (10de:0322) with Nouveau, GNOME 2.30, Mono 2.4.4~svn151842-1ubuntu4, and Docky 2.1.0~bzr1335-0ubuntu1~10.04~dockycore1 (from PPA). Output is attached.

If I open an OpenOffice.org document, and then open OpenOffice.org Word Processor, I get two different icons for OO.o in Docky. A screenshot is forthcoming.

If I leave my two OO.o windows open, then kill and restart docky, I only have one icon once docky comes back up

What type of 'document' are you opening. How are you opening it?

I'm going out on a limb here and saying your first 'document' that you open is not a word file (spreadsheet, presentation, whatever it is). As such, this is the correct behavior. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmmm.... I can't seem to reliably duplicate this bug (at least not for a screencast). The behavior, however, used to manifest itself when I would open an ODT document (via GNOME Do) and then open (again via GNOME Do) "OpenOffice.org Word Processor".

There was a previous bug where opening OO.org via a document made duplicate icons. This was fixed several revisions back in Docky. I think you just hadn't updated Docky yet.

Actually, no, I am using the latest docky from ppa in lucid, where that bug is fixed. If I open two ODT files, the awful-looking, scaled-up OO.o icon merely gains another running indicator dot.

I have attached a screencast. The two significant points are:
a) after FIHRR.odt finishes loading, there is an awful, scaled-up OO.o icon in docky
b) after OpenOffice.org Word Processor comes up, there is a nice-looking, not-scaled OO.o Writer icon in docky as well.

Then problem is OpenOffice is a bit tricky. We are waiting for 5 seconds to get OpenOffice in a proper state to be recognized. In your case this time isnt enough, because the document takes very long to load.

This bug is not fixed.

I am staring at my dock and it has the following:

1) OpenOffice.org Spreadsheet - this has 2 windows attached to it
  a) metrics.ods - oo.org calc
  b) mobilemediar06.csv - oo.org calc
2) metrics.ods - OpenOffice.org Calc

The icon for group 1 is what I call 'normal', ie the calc icon. The icon for group 2 is the 'generic' oo.org blue document icon.

Same problem as original submitter. I have no clue how I actually got into this state but here it is.

Ok I figured it out, but it is an odd one...

If I start opening the file and then switch to another virtual desktop, it will open the oo.org window on the 'new' desktop. When this happens I get the 2nd icon.

If I open it and stay on the original desktop I only have 1 icon.

Either a) you have found an additional (and more reliable) way to trigger this bug, or b) you have found a different bug. I couldn't say which, but this is not the way that this bug has always been triggered for me. I tested, though, and this behavior also manifests itself on my system.
