after installing both modules I can define pdf output, but I get always odt files.

There is fallback feature introduced after separating pdf from main module. If convertion to pdf fails for some reason, then reporting engine goes back to odt instead of throwing error and hanging.

For debugging purposes use the PDF conversion configuration wizard. We have improved error reporting, so now problems should be more self descriptive.
