i just tested in gnome. my nautilus-elementary consume 10MB RAM with only one window in use.
the amount of ram used even when browsing large directory doesn't exceed 2-3% of my ram use (on a total of 2G ram).

I don't have any explanation. For information nautilus-elementary just add some widget and modify some on stock nautilus nothing more. The internal mechanic is still stock nautilus, so nautilus-elementary should consume exactly the same amount of ram than the stock one. As far as i see and use nautilus-elementary, i didn't find any significant memory leak.

mine also uses about 15MB when the pc is turned on, but after few hours I noticed that. also when browsing in nautilus with more than 100mb in use it does not eat more ram, it stays almost the same. the same thing with fresh started nautilus the amount stays about 15-20mb.
well, maybe this can be stock nautilus problem.

until u come back with some more explicit comparatives between nautilus-elementary and nautilus ram consumption installed on the same system i mark this bug as invalid. There's no apparent reason for nautilus-elementary to consume more ram than stock nautilus. I can't reproduce this issue.
