Binary package hint: nautilus

Nautilus displays borders around thumbnails. This is plain ugly for when you want to improve nautilus with Cover Thumbnailer and show folder icons with little thumbnails on them: https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/cover-thumbnailer/+spec/folder-icons-instead-of-cd-covers

I would just like to mention that it is possible to "disable" the ugly borders by removing/renaming the following file: "/usr/share/pixmaps/nautilus/thumbnail_frame.png".

Thanks for your advice but I already knew that workaround.

In retrospect, this seems to be hard to fix as it is impossible to know the difference between folder icon replacements and other thumbnails. At least I guess so.

This is just an idea with no clue if it is possible: Aren’t there any parameters that can be set on thumbnail creation to say:
»No, for this icon please show no frame.«?

What do you think about replacing the current thumbnail frame with this one ?!

I think it looks better and the frame is more practical with a sharpen edge and a tiny shadow.

The problem here are non-rectangular thumbnails (I changed the title to make it more clear).

The bug is old and Ubuntu changed quite a lot since, there has also been no activity here nor similar reports. Closing since we believe the issue as described is deprecated but feel free to file a new report if you still have problems in recent Ubuntu versions.
