Bug Description

Binary package hint: evince

1) Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04

2)evince:
  Installed: 2.30.1-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 2.30.1-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 2.30.1-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid-proposed/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2.30.0-0ubuntu1 0
        500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/main Packages
(proposed version but i had someone test also the shipped one and had the same result)

3) the document i tried to open should open, or if called directly open the blank window

4) the document doesn't open, evince stays for minutes "opening" but in reality isn't. if tried from command line shows 2 messages

** (evince:3695): WARNING **: Error creating last_settings file: Errore nell'aprire il file «/home/weltall/.gnome2/evince/last_settings»: Nessun file o directory

( translated the italian part in error opening the file... no such file or directory)

and

Segmentation fault.

trying to run it with gdb gives this backtrace and it's crashing in ev_metadata_get_string (metadata=0x0, key=0x7fc9eca4479c "show_toolbar",
    value=0x7fff49e3bff8) at ev-metadata.c:148

(full gdb log attached)

5) the problem can be fixed by doing mkdir .gnome2/evince and running it again so the problem seems to be the missing folder, which should be created by evince.
