Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-notifier

When u-n starts up and crash reports are available, it calls apport-gtk. However, it does not remove the icon afterwards.

Steps for easy reproduction:

sudo rm /var/crash/*
killall update-notifier
bash
kill -SEGV $$
update-notifier # now the bomb icon appears
# click on bomb icon
# acknowledge report in apport-gtk
# bomb icon still present, and nothing happens when clicking on it

For the records:

<mvo> pitti: I'm sure you checked that the apport-checkreports script returns the right values? :) ?
<pitti> mvo: yes; however, it seems that it isn't even called after calling apport-gtk
<pitti> mvo: the only thing that really changes in /var/crashes are the access times
<pitti> and they might not trigger inotify events
<mvo> pitti: yes, that is likely
<mvo> hmm
<mvo> I wonder what to do in this case
<pitti> mvo: after you called apport-gtk, you can unconditionally remove the icon IMHO
<mvo> yes
<mvo> that is the a easy solution :)

It seems like my last upload didn't fix it poperly (thanks Martin for telling me about the problem). I uploaded 0.42.13 which includes a new fix. Please let me know if that works better for you.

Thanks,
 michael
