Ken, I suggest we don't throw good money after bad here. Probably best to revert this change altogether, and try again in 10.10 early when we have time to refine popping the dialog.

i like this new behaviour of having the window come to front and not having to go through indicator-messages which is tricky and time consumeing

an ideal behavior for now could be have the window pop up in the front but dont let it steal focus.
so everybody is happy.

I think the reason that the functionality of stealing focus was made for this was because there were a lot of people who were missing calls and they complained. I think that rejecting the calls accidentally is a much better thing than missing them all together. Maybe adding something to the indicator-applet when a call was missed, and getting rid of the functionality would be a viable middle ground for now?

Just opinions of course.

Well, since that was a pretty quick change without much discussion allowed. Make sure the bugs that ask for the focus to be to the front again are reopened.

All good opinions. I think it is universally agreed that opening a dialog is preferable to using the indicator only. However, we are paste the point in the delivery of Lucid when we can make progress by moving forward with new changes, except for trivial bug fix or changes to fixer crashers, data loss bugs, etc... We are out of time for turn around of new code. Unless there is a trivial fix here for the stability of the product, rolling back to old code may be our only sane choice.
