Bug Description

I'm not sure exactly what's causing this, but...

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04, fully updated. Whenever I run any updates (via "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade" in the terminal), if any updates are found and applied (doesn't matter if they relate to the panel/indicator or not), the MeMenu status changes to offline. Yet, I am still online on the IM accounts. The icon in the MeMenu simply reverts to the offline icon.

Manually attempting to change the status via the MeMenu does nothing. In order to fix it, I've been resorting to "killall gnome-panel"; when it comes back, the status is correctly indicated.

Ok, now I know how to reproduce this. Just go to System>preferences and change the theme and memenu will show offline icon

is the issue only with icons or is the status in empathy wrong too?

the issue could be similar to bug #537977 and rather with libdbusmenu than the indicator

@Sebastien:
That's quite possible it's a related bug. I noticed it happens with the sound indicator, too. It seems like the indicators become suddenly unaware of your current status (IM/sound level), default to off/none, and need to be reset for them to recognize it.

With the sound one, at least, it can be resolved just by changing the volume. Not ideal, of course!
