testdrive needs a better icon

Transmission already uses a shifter , and since test drive has already been using a steering wheel it would be safe to keep it closer.
And if the icon is done to tango guidelines it should solve the dark background visibility problems.

I'v come up with 2 versions for the logo using the wooden wheel.
Plus, using the brown would also prevent the visibility problems in the dark menus. Attaching the versions.

I also noticed that testdrive seems to only have 1 icon 64px and uses it everywhere , launchpad and in the menus.
I would suggest that testdrive use the 64px icon only for launchpad and a install a 24px/22px for the testdrive menu.

I had this done a few days ago , but I was kinda hoping for the ubuntu logo to be released to the public. We could use the "t" and "b" [flip the b and use it as a "d"] I was told it would be within this month.
My main worry is that the "t" differs in the branding page. ubuntu and xubuntu have different "t"

Let me know which version you prefer and i hope either you or Jcastro have access to the new ubuntu logo ;-)

The icon in the dark menu only seems brighter due to the background , but it is the same color as the bigger one

Cool, I like the shape. The brown is a little hard to see.

What about changing the brown to a grey (in between the light and dark
of ambiance/radiance)? Or what about a bright red?

I'll get the color variants too. Bright-red , I'm not sure which color you are mentioning , i havnt seen a bright-red wheel. Any pictures of the color you have in mind?

probably ask for a UI-freeze exception soon...

I like all three. The middle is my favorite. But I'll take whichever
you choose. Propose a merge of the upstream lp:testdrive branch with
your image replacing the img/*png files. Cool?

Hi , attached the updated icons in the branch.

I used the black icon as, it was the icon which had equal visibility in the center and the rim for the dark background[default ambiance theme.] And also since , you liked it more ;-)

Updated all the old icons.
Added new icons 22,24px.

While installing testdrive it would be best if the 22px,24px and the 64px icons are installed.
Usually themes use 24px or 22px icons in the panel menu, the light themes use 22px icons , human theme uses 24px icon.
The 64px icon when installed as the scalable icon would be used if someone adds testdrive to the dock

For the larger , the branding pictures, i used a faint hint of the ubuntu logo , to add a visual hint that this was a linux app. Else a steering wheel seemed quite unrelated to Ubuntu or testing or linux.
