Keyboard selection - Guernsey should be UK not USA

Firstly it's great that yo have included Guernsey and the other UK islands into your distribution as locations. It's a nice touch to include us Ubuntu users in our small island homelands.

When selecting Guernsey as a location the next page defaults to a US / USA keyboard layout. It should be UK as per England / Great Britain. Though not checked, I suspect Jersey, Isle of Man and others may default the same way and should also be set to a UK keymap.

If it helps, I posted a similar 'bug' to the folks in the FreeBSD World. I have tracked down a copy of it online:

  * Move boot tasks to a combination of two udev rules and a single Upstart
    job, ensuring that they're run at points when we are able to satisfy the
    constraints on the relevant ioctls. This may not work optimally with
    vgacon, but you have to go to special effort to use that with Ubuntu
    now, and it at least shouldn't break (LP: #524439).
  * Set default layout for Guernsey, Jersey, and the Isle of Man to gb
    (LP: #533003).
  * Fix incorrect FONT and ACM tests in initramfs script.
  * Depend on kbd (>= 1.15-1ubuntu3) for a valuable loadkeys improvement.
    This was previously a recommends, but the udev rule won't work without
    kbd or console-tools anyway, I'm not really interested in supporting a
    system without either installed, and console-tools is thoroughly
    obsolete now.

Me again :-) I have just tried the latest Beta of Ubuntu 10.04 (in particular x64), selecting Guernsey from the graphical map location selection page and clicking Next still offers USA as a default.

Hello Colin,

I have just installed the recently released 13.04 and at the graphical region selection stage during initial setup Guernsey appears somewhere in Africa! Then the very next choice - USA keyboard - again!

Then once in the Unity desktop proper under the Time and Date settings I can type Guernsey and get everywhere from Arkansas to Wyoming, USA but not within Channel Islands. The neighbouring island of Jersey is also absent.

I ovewrote the keyboard selection to UK during the setup stage but Regional Settings within Unity still has "Display numbers, dates..." as "English (United States)".

Essentially everything for Guernsey (Alderney, Herm, Sark - collectively Bailiwick of Guernsey) and Jersey should be treated per UK / Great Britain in terms of defaults derrived from selecting those locations, including GMT and regional variences.
