Bug Description

I´ve a DVD drive and a DVD recorder in my system. I installed kubuntu 6.06 but my fstab only contains this:

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/sda4 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1
/dev/sda1 /media/sda1 ntfs defaults,nls=utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1
/dev/sda3 /media/sda3 reiserfs defaults 0 2
/dev/sda5 /media/sda5 vfat defaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1
/dev/sda6 /media/sda6 vfat defaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1
/dev/sda7 /media/sda7 vfat defaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1
/dev/sda8 /media/sda8 vfat defaults,utf8,umask=007,gid=46 0 1
/dev/sda9 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/hda /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

The DVD burner on /dev/hdb is shown in the list in the system settings, but there´s no icon for enabled/disabled and when I select "edit" nothing happens.

what were the models of the dvd drive, and dvd recorders? That infomation would probably help.

Reassigning to debian-installer

Is there a command which I can execute and attach the output here?

I'm not sure if it's the same bug, but I just ran into this myself. I'm running Kubuntu Dapper, 386 kernel. I installed using ubiquity. I have two DVD drives: a DVD-ROM drive, and a BENQ DVD DD DW1640 burner. The DVD-ROM appears in /etc/fstab:

/dev/hdd /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0

The burner does not appear there, but putting in a disc and letting it open (or opening it through media:/) mounts it on /media/hdc and it works fine from there.

Just out of curiosity are both drives detected during a live session?

I don't have this setup anymore. It's IMHO useless if bugs remain without a solution for months or even years.
