Wrong dependency libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio on Ubuntu 9.10 when using ALSA only?

Bug Description

When I try to install OpneShot on my Ubuntu 9.10 from the ppa, Synaptic tells me that I have to remove libsdl1.2debian-alsa and install libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio instead. As i am not using pulseaudio (i finally managed it to disable and completely remove pulse) i don't want to install that.

But as far as I know the SDL libaries, there should be no problem using ALSA instead of Pulse (the application using sdl doesn't notice the difference)

I think you could (should) change that dependency...

( libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio | libsdl1.2debian-alsa | libsdl1.2debian-oss | libsdl1.2debian-esd | libsdl1.2debian-nas )

Thank you.

Hi Dirty Oerti
It's impossible because it' s not openshot who need libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio instead of libsdl1.2.debian-alsa but it's MLT. And i'm nearly sure that 's impossible for us to change this. Sorry.

Oh, sorry for that then.
But the package (python-mlt) is from the same repository as openshot...?

I contact the ppa maintainer..

Changed in openshot:
status: New → Invalid

Without the libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio package installed, MLT will freeze and become unresponsive. I'm not sure exactly why that is, but that is the reason I added it as a dependency.

Thanks,

Hm, on how many different computers does this error / problem occur?
Perhaps its only a wrong (alsa) configuration on your machine? (e.g. alsa and pulse blocking each other)

A little late to the conversation, but I have the same issue: Alsa only, no pulse, so I am unable to use openshot. Bummer.

Hi,
Check all your dependency like it is explained at this page (see the add too) : http://openshotusers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=372,
Have you jack installed ?
Thanks.
