Xubuntu Should Have Parole Not Totem

thank you for your bug report, xubuntu choices are not bug in totem though, you should contact the xubuntu team rather than open a bug on the totem source

How do I contact them WITHOUT going on a mailing list? I hate them.

you can open a bug on the xubuntu-desktop binary or whatever they use to define what defines the xubuntu installation

coldReactive: you can contact xubuntu team on IRC Freenode #xubuntu . However, be aware that changes to default applications will require discussion on the mailing list. We do need to be able to see comparisons of applications and will require a reason for change. The fact that another application is stable is not valid to switch to it for a default application.

totem is GNOME, Parole is xulrunner based on gstreamer, it would be wise to change it.

However, I don't really feel that I care anyway to be honest, I use an xfce minimal install using the ubuntu mini.iso.

We'll see that for lucid+1, too risky for a LTS.
