[dapper-updates candidate] Missing /var/run/openct directory after (re)boot aborts initscript execution

Bug Description

Binary package hint: openct

the debian package for openct contains the (empty) /var/run/openct/ directory.
this directory is essential for openct, and it works for debian, because /var/run/
is permanent.

but ubuntu has a tmpfs on /var/run/, thus after the first reboot the directory is
gone and openct stops working. please edit the install script to create the
directory if it does not exist (with group smart card, mode 0750 I guess).

openct 0.6.8 has an improved init script that handles ubuntu nice, so don't
worry about post dapper.

fixing this bug should be a dapper-updates task.

The process for updates to the stable release is documented at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates. Part of this process is that the fix should be uploaded to edgy first, and then considered for backporting.

Thank you for the work on this bug. My apologies that this review has been so delayed. Looking at the candidate patch for dapper, please make the following adjustments (many of which are changes from the requirements at the time of original patch submission):

1) Specify the patch origin in the changelog (are these backported changes or is this a freshly generated patch for the dapper backport).
2) Consider using "(LP: #bugnumber) rather than (closes Ubuntu #50299)
3) Please update the Maintainer to match the DebianMaintainerSpec
4) Please use dapper-proposed as the target distribution

I have unsubscribed ubuntu-universe-sponsors pending the resolution of these issues. Please resubscribe to request upload if an updated debdiff addressing these issues is prepared for Dapper.
