Bug Description

https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/installation-guide/amd64/downloading-files.html#where-files

This page is specific for 9.10

ACTUAL
the links point to jaunty (which is 9.04)

EXPECTED
the links should point to karmic (to match 9.10)

There are two links to fix, they should point to
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/karmic/main/installer-amd64/current/images/
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/karmic/main/installer-amd64/current/images/MANIFEST

We need to fix this both in Karmic and Lucid now, so I've opened a bug task.

This bug was fixed in the package installation-guide - 20081208ubuntu6

---------------
installation-guide (20081208ubuntu6) lucid; urgency=low

  * Bump kernelversion to 2.6.32.
  * Bump x11ver to 7.5.
  * Bump GNOME version to 2.30.
  * Bump release version and names for Lucid (LP: #501572).
  * Remove comments about automatic installation methods that have been
    removed from Ubuntu (LP: #496554).
  * Remove documentation of
    base-installer/kernel/linux/initramfs-generators; setting this to
    anything other than the default will cause the installer to fail
    (LP: #415469).
  * Stop building for lpia.

I don't see how it gets fixed, as the URL and title of this page don't match yet:

Please see my previous comment in which I indicated that it needed to be
fixed for both Karmic and Lucid. I fixed it for Lucid.

(help.ubuntu.com is updated from the installation-guide package,
although manually (I think) and not immediately.)

Accepted installation-guide into karmic-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

Me again (I reported the bug). If you intended to fix the originally reported bug it is still present because the web page still has 2 broken links.

I can not see the documentation for lucid under https://help.ubuntu.com/ so I can't verify that it is fixed in Lucid.

Cheers

Verification for Karmic:

I have reproduced the problem with installation-guide-i386 | 20081208ubuntu5 and have verified that the version of installation-guide-i386 | 20081208ubuntu5.1 in proposed fixes the issue.
All the references, except one, to Jaunty/9.04 and links have been replaced by Karmic/9.10. One minor reference to 9.04 remains in installation-guide-i386/en/ch04s06.html in paragraph:
"The logvol --percent, --bytes-per-inode, and --fsoptions options for certain kinds of detailed Logical Volume Management (LVM) configuration. (LVM configuration in general is experimentally supported as of Ubuntu 9.04; please let us know about your experiences with it.) "
I do not know if it's still relevant in 9.10 ?

Marking as verification-done and adding a task for "Ubuntu Website" to update the website.
