Bug Description

Binary package hint: yelp

related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-utils/+bug/354204
noob, upgraded from xubuntu (8) to 9.04
Install appeared to go fine. Rebooted with topic error "no exec.." and then "..will start in Gnome failsafe.."
Desktop brown background pic only. Terminal (alt+f2) -> giant screen - cant read first few char. And cant exit from it (goes to black screen, cursor top left). Writing part of text blind - and I'm not experienced at cmd line. So can't open folder (as in related bug) to try amending 'HOME/' folder..
Please help/advise.
Have tried grub startup options with no luck. Format and re download? (hopefully not in this day and age..!?).
Sorry, no help with version !
Thanks in anticipation.
Matt

CoolHandLuke, do you get any sort of login screen? Or does the boot process go straight to this mode?

CoolHandLuke, when you are at the screen with the brown wallpaper, you should be able to right-click with your mouse and get a drop-down menu with things that you can do. If you can start up a terminal, you could run an editor like gedit or kate to then edit that particular file.

Good idea. Opened gedit, browsed to HOME/me/.drmc and changed the text from xfce4 to xfce. Worked!
