Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, Ubuntu gets its translations from the translations portion of Launchpad (http://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/), where translation teams work on making Ubuntu more useful in their language. If you want to change a translation in Ubuntu there is the right place.

Alex: That's only true for packages in main/restricted. However, nautilus-image-converter is in universe so the translations are included directly in the package.

The best thing to do here would be forwarding this bug to Debian. The Maintainer there has already accepted translations for other languages so I suppose he will accept this fixes too. Once the fix is in Debian we can just copy the new package version from there, and don't need to put it into the package in Ubuntu and keep maintaining it.

I'm reopening this bug because the spanish translation fix is not correct. Letters like á, ñ or the opening exclamation mark are not shown correctly.

So the propesed es.po seems to be wrong, can a native speaker fix it ? At least I'll revert to the previous state.

Thanks Federico. Can someone test the package on lucid in my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~gilir/+archive/unstable) and report back if it's working ?

Sorry, I screw up, I just test it and it was all in english, I set the charset to 'ansi' instead of 'iso-8859-1'. I tested this one (save the '.mo' with poedit and overwrite the original) and it work ok, except for one string in line 134 that isn't translated at all (perhaps because of the 'º' symbol)

Thanks Federico, I fixed the package and send an update to my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~gilir/+archive/unstable). If someone can confirm that it's fixed, I can upload the package to maverick.

Hi, I Fix again the "es.po", in UTF-8.
This correct "90° clockwise" (and laters) with a char "°" does'nt mach in iso8859-1.
Now can see correctly "90° sentido horario"

This is better with some Uppercase fixes.

Install test:
msgfmt -cv es.po
mv messages.mo nautilus-image-converter.mo
sudo cp nautilus-image-converter.mo /usr/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES
sudo killall nautilus

Please, test it, and comment.
I glad if Julien wish to add your PPA.

I love this nautilus extension!
