Bug Description

Binary package hint: f-spot

There are times when you want to view images without adding them to your photo library. During viewing you may very
well decide you want to do a quick crop, or other simple editing without needing to open gimp.

Seems like exposing editing in the f-spot viewer since the editing functionality is already available would be a big win.

Perhaps the idea of "viewer" would change a little, it would be more of a standalone photo viewer/editor.

At the very least F-spot Viewer should be updated to support cropping and rotation, and then made the default action when double clicking on images. This is especially important now that Gimp is being dropped from the Lucid Live CD and default install.

gthumb offers a very good suite of basic editing tools - resize, crop, rotate, simple colour/contrast tweaking, a few other things.

At a minimum, f-spot's view mode should offer roughly the same options as gthumb currently has before GIMP is removed from the default Ubuntu install.

Probably , Fspot should enable the toolbar by default to display the Rotate-L/R options too.

That would avoid Bug #485099 , where users are finding it difficult to Find the edit options even in the photo manager.

Here's a debdiff to add editing to the view mode.

Thank you for your work there, some comments:

- would it be possible to have the view mode show the sidebar by default on with edition selected or have a command line option to select edition?
- how does the user save the modified image?

I think we need to be able to resize from within the F-Spot Viewer. Is this doable?
