usb hdd resets

Bug Description

i tried to install karmic on my external hdd.
I got indications about a bug against this package.
I think that it also needs blacklisting.
I always disconected the disk after each command.

after sudo skdump jmicron:/dev/sdc the partitions disapears.
I got problems to get the lsusb -v. I tried until i got it right. see lsusb -v correct.

I've run the commands on karmic installed on the usb memory stick seen in lsusb (cruzer)

if i try to boot the external hdd (in recovery) i can boot to the root shell and update my system. I upgraded to lucid to see if there is an approvement. Which doesn't. When i chose 'continu normal boot' (don't know how it called, instead of root shell) the system boots until checking battery state. After that i get lots of errors: ext4-fs, could not enummerate, ...

i've retried installing 64-bit daily build lucid (301209). I've still have this problem. Sometimes it boots but most of the time it doesn't.

maybe i am experience this bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/515023 instead of a bug against libatasmart
