Upgraded machine to Karmic, problem still there. It almost looks like interference, but actually more like the screen it wrapped around several times over the top of itself in about 5-6 single vertical lines. I am unable to provide a photo of this as the machine itself is a friends and I am unable to provide it. Hopefully the apport debugging info above should help.
