Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

I just did a fresh install of Karmic. My home's Examples folder has a piece of paper for an icon. Screenshot attached.

The solution for this issue is trivial: add "Icon=folder" in ubuntu.desktop.in[1] file in sources

This happens to me too. I do not have a fresh install...
Furthermore if I access the example folder it goes to "/usr/share/example-content". This feels wrong... Don't know if it was like this before, as I never use the example folder.

I can also confirm this. I tried to report this to developers when the RC image was released. But I guess it did not get fixed before the karmic release date. Hopefully this can be fixed through updates and can make it to Lucid. It gives a bad impression, when new users boot from the LiveCD and get a flat file icon for "Examples" on the desktop.

When the icon theme is switched to Gnome , it is the same behavior. and is displayed similarly.
Even with the human theme , there is no folder displayed.

Not sure why this was marked a bug in the humanity-icon-theme.

Am I underestimating this bug or could it be a papercut candidate?

For this to be Fix Released shouldn't the Examples folder have its original icon and not a generic folder icon.

Did it have an original icon? I thought it was only ever a shortcut
icon or something like that. I don't remember there ever being a custom
one, although my memory might be faulty.

(Anyway, I think the bug title is quite clear!)
