The error is:

DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.LimitsExceeded: Connection ":1.71" is not allowed to add more match rules (increase limits in configuration file if required)

A fix is to increase the number of allowed match rules to something like in in system.conf
  <limit name="max_match_rules_per_connection">5000</limit>

why the Ubuntu team felt the need to screw up something that worked perfectly fine is beyond me. i went from being able to simply being able check off the programs i want to having to click and then choose install for each and ever program. just plain stupid!

Michael, should the aptdaemon/software-center tasks here be closed as invalid?

@Steve I closed the tasks now, it would be nice to work on aptdaemon a bit more so that its more efficient when it comes to the signal usage, but that is not karmic material :)
