Same problem here. Toggling desktop affects off and on causes the missing application icons on the current screen to reappear. Once you click to a different set of applications and switch back, they are gone again. DarkwingDuck confirmed the same behavior on his system.

Marking hight because this is a major blocker on the usability of the application launcher.

Starting with a fresh install of Karmic Netbook BETA in a VM, I installed one package at a time until I tracked down the source of the bug. I have narrowed it down to a group of 5 packages/dependencies.

The bug lies somewhere within the kdelibs. When I upgraded the following 5 packages the bug showed up.

kdelibs5
kdelibs-bin
kdelibs5-data
libplasma3
libxml2

These 5 are all dependent on each other otherwise I would have been able to push it down further.

Hope this can help in tracking it down.

Jonathan, can you please look into this or delegate? Release blockers need an assignee. Thanks!

I've been working through this one and having narrowed it down to kdelibs,
upstream had some hints about which files to review changes for the 4.3.1
to 4.3.2 upgrade. Any help is welcome. We are making progress.

http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/4.3/kdelibs/plasma/widgets/scrollwidget.cpp?r1=1002240&r2=1030139 is the deadly commit. Need to look at if we should revert this change in kde4libs or make a change in plasma-netbook.

Discussed with notmart and he suggested reverting the kde4libs change and seeing how that goes.
