Bug Description

Some pages on Launchpad are too wide for comfortable reading on OS/2, in both Firefox and Opera, when the Lucida Grande font is installed.

These pages include
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu
https://launchpad.net/products/launchpad/+bug/4469/+addattachment
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+filebug

A similar problem occurs with other sites on Windows if Lucida Grande is installed.

Mikus, what do you mean by "for Ubuntu"? Do you mean pages on ubuntu.com? Or pages on Launchpad?

As for "the page on which I am typing this", for me the "Report a Bug" form fits comfortably in a browser window about 700px wide, even when I set a minimum font size of 16px. The tabs are scrunched up, and the redundant "Report a Bug" link (bug 3786) is scrolled off to the side, but the form is quite usable.

So please let us know what browser you're using, what font size you have set, and if possible attach a screenshot to this bug report. Thanks.

In my browser, many Launchpad webpages are WIDER than my physical screen size, let alone my browser window size.

Please note the length of the horizontal scroll bar (above the status bar) in the attached screenshot.

And here is a "comment entry" page. Please note from the horizontal scrollbar slider lenght that this page is even wider than the page shown in the previous attachment.

What I mean by "for Ubuntu" is page https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu

My browser window is about 1100px wide, meaning that it would take me some 1400px to be able to see ALL of the entry field into which I am typing this.

In my original post I mentioned that I am using FireFox, and that in my btowser's settings I had specified a minimum font size of 16. (Actually, I am using a recent trunk build of Deer Park Alpha 2, but the TOO WIDE Launchpad pages are "too wide" no matter which Mozilla-based browser (or even Opera) I try.)

Note: I have specified to my browser to use 'Cardo' as the default serif font when displaying UTF-8 encoded pages. I do NOT know what is the smalles glyph size supported by the cardo71s.ttf font file I have installed.

Looking some more at the webpage on which I am typing this, it is rendered in sans-serif. My browser's default sans-serif font for UTF-8 encoded pages is Arial Unicode MS -- but it is likely that Launchpad's CSS scripts override whatever are my browser's defaults.
