Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

Most normal (i.e. people who aren't advanced linux users or experienced with computers at all) people would not be able to find the option to download software. They would just say: "this doesn't work," and try something else, for instance, windows. Please try to make this option more obvious or show where to find the download option, as it is not easy to find in software-center's current set-up.

Thanks for your bugreport.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "download software". What exactly is hard? Finding the application (software-center) itself? Finding a specific app? Or something else?

Changed in software-center (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

I mean that the checkmark system wasn't working on the outside, like in the
previous version. There was no option to download the file without going
into the specific information, not helpful if you already know that you want
it as well as wanting to install multiple files at once. You have to go into
every single menu and click download. This needs fixed simply for people who
want to select multiple downloads, hit "go," and walk off and do something
else. It's simply a time-waster to have it set up like it is currently.

This issue seems to have been fixed in the latest development release of Ubuntu.

(There are now install buttons located directly in the list views.)
