Bug Description

Binary package hint: konqueror

[Kubuntu Dapper Beta]
I use Konqueror to display man pages. eg man:/usr/share/man/fr/man1/dpkg.1.gz
The issue is that accentuated characters are not displayed correctly ("?" instead of "é").

It seems to be fine with UTF-8 manual pages (which recently started to be supported), so this should clear up eventually. Nevertheless, I think konqueror should depend on man-db (>= 2.5.1-1) and have its man: backend run the file you give it through 'man --recode UTF-8' in order to get a file in an encoding it's happy with.

Here's a patch that implements my suggestion. It should be suitable for forwarding to Debian (and I'd appreciate it if you could do so), although it's not upstreamable as yet because it relies on a new enough version of man-db which is far from the only man implementation out there.

Whoops, I forgot to update debian/control.in. Updated patch attached. I've also forwarded this to Debian (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=449554).
