Binary package hint: grub

/usr ran out of disk space in phase "Unpacking replacement grub ...", there was 1GB free before upgrade.

One note because the subject is misleading and I provide some more info about environment:

-I was running 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade', not installing as I put in the subject line.
-I had installed also other grub packages, I uninstalled grub for now because I don't need it no longer (I guess):

I was doing an update in the update manager and I got error

package grub 0.97-29ubuntu56 failed to install/upgrade: échec dans « buffer_write(fd) » (10, ret=-1) : backend dpkg-deb pendant « ./usr/lib/grub/i386-pc/fat_stage1_5 »
