Bug Description
The latest updates to karmic (Oct 2) required a restart. There was also a dialogue window about whether to delete 5 (6?) obsolete files. The "restart required" flashed up a moment after the "delete?" window and covered it. I chose "restart later" which allowed me to get at the confirmation delete the obsolete files.
I don't know whether just hitting "restart" would have caused problems. If yes, then that sequence needs cleaning up before the next batch of updates requiring a restart.
(Karmic looks beautiful, fast, and stable, by the way! :D )

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/ReportingBu gs.
PS: I'm curious, the description indicates that you filed this bug against update-manager but the bug still wasn't assigned to the update-manager package. Did you change the "In what package did you find this bug? " Information on the bug reporting form or was it set to 'I don't know' from the beginning?
