Bug Description

Binary package hint: eclipse

Since I upgraded to Ubuntu Karmic alpha 6, I cannot install eclipse plugins anymore. Also, one of the plugins I had installed before (Subclipse) is no longer available. I don't think I had any other plugin installed.

When I go to Help/Software Updates, which is where plugins are usually found, a message is shown saying:
Cannot launch the Update UI. This installation has not been configured properly for Software Updates.

Hi

All of you experiencing this, try running the following in a terminal:

sudo sed -i 's/SDKProfile/PlatformProfile/' /usr/lib/eclipse/configuration/config.ini

You may have to have to delete your ~/.eclipse and possible also create a clean workspace for this to work.

Hi

We have fixed the "error message" part of this problem, which has already been committed to our VCS repositories. I have no ETA on when it will be released, however.

To max and Tobias (and others experiencing similar problems):

Please try to see if the solution in Bug 445376 works for you; also, please post your results at the bug instead of this one.

eclipse (3.5.1-0ubuntu3) karmic; urgency=low

  * Configure eclipse properly for Software Updates (LP: #438414).
  * Split osgi jars in its own package (LP: #102717).
  * Add source jar files to packages.

@ecor6633: This bug was only in the Ubuntu package. The official package was not affected. You probably encounter bug #443004. The solution: Either use the Ubuntu package (which supports installing other plugins - you only have to add update sites) or wait for eclipse 3.5.2.
