Bug Description

Binary package hint: cairo-dock-plug-ins

I'm part of the Cairo-Dock team and we have made a special version for Ubuntu Karmic.
After weeks of hard work we propose to you a new release which is a 'bugs fixed version'.
Some applets have merged in order to fix some recurrent bugs.

The tarball, the ChangeLog and the debian repertory are available : https://edge.launchpad.net/cairo-dock-plug-ins/2.0/2.0.9

I attach the debdiff and the diff.gz

REM : Please update cairo-dock (bug #435587) AND cairo-dock-plug-ins

 - Why do you "Removed ${shlibs:Depends} for integration plug-ins"?
 - Why this change:
-X-Debianized-By: Matthew Walker <email address hidden>
+X-Debianized-By: Julien Lavergne <email address hidden>
 - These two flags were dropped, and it's not documented why: --enable-rhythmbox --enable-nvidia
 - Additionally the two things I mentioned on bug 435587 too (changing of existing changelog entries, missing LP: #123456 entry in debian/changelog).

Could you have a look into this?

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for your help !

> Why do you "Removed ${shlibs:Depends} for integration plug-ins"?
  Because our integration plug-ins will active if you have some libraries. These lib are integreted by default with your desktop environment ! For example, if libthunar is detected, the plug-in in order to use better thunar is activated. No need some useless dependences.

  I'm not a specialist but I thought that this entry was made for the first original maintainer. If I make a mistake, sorry for that. So Julien has been the first maintainer, Matthew the second and me the last. What I have to do ?

>- These two flags were dropped, and it's not documented why: --enable-rhythmbox --enable-nvidia
It's because some applets have merged in order to fix some recurrent bugs. So rhythmbox and nvidia no longer exist.

Julien: I realise you've been maintaining this for a bit now. I'm not sure I'll have the time to get this done before beta... maybe you can take a look?

Question...

I ran an update today, and cairo-dock and cairo-dock-core packages were updated to 2.0.9. cairo-dock-plugins was retained at 2.0.8.

I previously had some plugins enabled (visual stuff) aswell as cpu, memory and netspeed monitors...

Since the update, the plugins have "disappeared" and the Accessories, Desktop, Controlers and Plug-ins sections are now completely empty...

Behaviour contains - Position, Accessibility, TaskBar, System, Help
Appearance contains - Background, Labels, Icons, Views, Dialogues, Desklets, Indicators

Is it because the cairo-dock-plug-ins, cairo-dock-plug-ins-data and cairo-dock-plug-ins-integration packages are still at 2.0.8.2 that this problem now occurs?? I've tried purging all previous configs for cairo, but no luck...

Thanks

yes, both core and plug-ins must have been compiled in the same version.
So you'll probably get your plug-ins back as soon as they are packaged in
the 2.0.9 version.

@ PaulW : If you want, you can use our repository (http://www.cairo-dock.org/ww_page.php) or our ppa (https://launchpad.net/cairo-dock) in order to always have the latest stable release. In fact we no longer can upgrade this version on Karmic (only "bugs fixed version" are accepted)

This bug was fixed in the package cairo-dock-plug-ins - 2.0.9-0ubuntu1

---------------
cairo-dock-plug-ins (2.0.9-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  [ Matthieu Baerts (matttbe) ]
  * New upstream release (LP: #435590)
  * debian/control:
   - Remove ${shlibs:Depends} for integration plug-ins to avoid
     pulling shared libraries which are detected automatically.
   - Added curl as depends for cairo-dock-plug-ins
  * debian/rules:
   - Add --enable-dnd2share and --enable-musicplayer to enable new applets.
   - Remove --enable-rhythmbox and --enable-nvidia to remove those applets,
     not maintained upstream.
  * Update *.install to take all generated applets.

  [ Julien Lavergne ]
  * Adjust changelog with Daniel Holbach suggestions.
  * cairo-dock-plug-ins.changelogs: Install specific changelog for 2.0.9
  * Build-depends on cairo-dock-dev (>= 2.0.9)
