Bug Description

Binary package hint: aptdaemon

I am using Karmic Alpha 6 UNR on a Asus 1000HE and everytime I run the update manager, I can not see the download size of the packages. I can only get the first number, eg. 56 MB, I will only see "5". So, I never know how much I am downloading. This is more of a cosmetic issue than anything else. I have attached a screenshot for the example. Also, I have not changed the display setting one way or another. They are display setting "out of the box" so to speak. If you need more info let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for your bugreport.

Could you please check the version you are using? There is a bigger default size in "1:0.125.2" that should fix the issue for most people.

Not sure what version I am using, don't know how to check. However, I have updated everything using update manager and the problem is still there.

If you need the version number, you have to tell me how to check and I can report back.

Unduplicating this bug, because it has a different manifestation from bug 434937.

434937 is about the "updating cache" dialog. This one is about the Update Manager itself. Please see the screenshot after the change to "Fix Released" in bug 434937, attached by AnthonyC.

Confirmed on karmic-release.
It is a minor cosmetic trouble, but ought not happen in -release.
$ update-manager -V
update-manager: version 0.126.6

I fixed this in lucid by showing it in two rows. As a workaround you can resize the window to see the full string.

This bug isn't fixed. I am using the newest Lucid build in a VM and the Problem still remains. On default size some parts of the # selected and size to be downloaded is cut still. I don't know wether it's conform with GNOME HIGs but this info should be put in a seperate line or between the 'settings' and 'apply' lines.
The way it is update-manager seems kind of unprofessional and it looks awful maximized.
