Bug Description

Binary package hint: ibus

When ibus is running, it keeps an icon in the notification area. This icon is not very useful. All it does is: provide a place to get into ibus preferences (also accessible through the system menu), and provide an indication of which input mode is in use (also provided by the window which appears when any input method is activated).

This icon should not be show by default, and showing it should be optional.

The blue gradients really stand out, as well. There is a nice icon as part of the Humanity icon set, but the icon shown in the notification area doesn't fit well with the rest of the desktop.

1 this icon indicates user its running, so it should be there

2 new icon from humanity theme fit pretty good with the whole system's theme

Sorry, seems that I changed status for Ubuntu package, not the upstream one. Can someone more knowledgeable with Launchpad fix it?

Also, ZhengPeng Hou, you can still have the icon, it's enabled by default. But those with small screens can hide it.

The new humanity icon is indeed a lot nicer. However, it isn't essential to have an icon visible all the time. According to the upstream bug report, a fix has been implemented in the development version.
