Bug Description

The DVB-T device Terratec Cinergy T2 won't work on karmic, as there is a regression from 2.6.29 to the newer kernels. The issue is documented here http://<email address hidden>/msg07610.html and a fix has already landed at upstreams master repo http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/rev/75be92928287 .

But as 2.6.31 is now RC8 and on the way to gold, this one line patch won't make it into the vanilla release for karmic, therefore it would be great if we (or better named the kernel team ;) could add it to the Ubuntu kernel patches.

just confirmed the issue and the fix on the 2.6.31-8.28 release. the recompiled module for this kernel release is attached for easy testing. just rmmod the default one and insmod this.

Hi Guys,

I've applied the patch and posted a test kernel at:

http://people.canonical.com/~ogasawara/lp421258/

If you could quickly test and let me know this kernel works I'll submit for inclusion into Karmic asap. Thanks.

@Leann: sorry i can't test your kernel for the next week or so, since i'm currently in an area where no dvb-t broadcasting is avaibable. but as i said i applied exactly the same patch on the source of 2.6.31-8.28 (from main) and it worked. i hope Thomas can help out in the meantime.

@Leann: i now managed to install your packages via remote on a machine at home (where a dvb-t signal is available) and got it tested by a friend. worked as expected. so thumbs up from my side.

Thanks for the testing and the feedback. I've submitted this to the Ubuntu kernel team to consider carrying this patch in Karmic:
