Bug Description

I am running a Karmic Daily (approx Aug7) Live CD with 64bit architecture. I have:
VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV730 PRO [Radeon HD 4650].

I tried to enable Desktop effects, it said it couldn't, so I started jockey-gtk and attempted to install FLGRX. It downloaded and installed, but I could not activate it (may I need to restart X? but if I try to restart X Ubuntu crashes and I just get a blank screen. In any case it did not give me any warning that X needed to be restarted.) So I tried to restart desktop effects again and I got this crash. This crash does not happen every time.
