Bug Description
the permissions on /etc/couchdb:
drwxrwx--- 2 couchdb couchdb 4096 2009-07-22 15:23 couchdb
Prevents make start from working correctly in a dev environment. kenvandine reports that adding yourself to the couchdb group ameliorates the issue.
