Bug Description

(Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope)

I have a few icons on my desktop that always appear misaligned after each restart. If I proceed to move them around on the screen to realign them they dissapear from the desktop (after about 4 to 5 moves). After this, the desktop freezes and cannot accept anymore commands (e.g. right mouse click has no effect at all).

Other applications will continue to operate normally including the taskbars. This freeze seems only to affect the desktop.

I always have to restart to regain control of the Desktop.

Hi Sebastien. I am still fairly new to ubuntu, I followed all the steps in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash. Now for me to do a backtrace, I need to know the name of the application that I can include it in the GDB command. My problem is with the Desktop, what is the application name that I need to use for this?

For more clarity on my issue; I need to know how to do a backtrace for issues related to the Desktop and not applications on it.

The attached file is the result of the processes I followed in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash. I hope this will be sufficient to help.

there is no crash in this log, you need to use gdb on the running nautilus as explained on the wikipage
