Did the videos run fast before? What video drivers do you have?

Re-assigning to flashplugin-nonfree. The full screen performance of this plugin with the NVIDIA binary driver is absolutely hideous, but there's not much anyone can do about that. A quick search on Google will show that you are not alone, and high CPU usage when running with the NVIDIA driver is a well known problem.

I have the same issue.
I am running Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, GeForce 9500 GT, AMD Athlon II x4 620.
I have the beta 195.30 Nvidia drive and beta Flash 10.0 r42.
I use the Compiz Icon. Compiz is running under this command:
compiz.real --replace --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp --loose-binding --indirect-render
I have run Compiz benchmark when I play a YouTube video. Compiz will go down to 10 frames a second!

I have the same problem with Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 32-bit, Nvidia latest proprietary driver with an Geforce 8500 GT graphic card.

Flash videos run all slow when fullscreened.

I disabled compiz seemed to solve the issue, but of course lost all the eye candy effects.

There must be some other solution.

I think it's not a nvida-related problem.
I have a ATI Radeon HD4650 and the issue is the same: youtube video are stuttering even in small size with compiz enabled, with a lot use of cpu, while without compiz they run smoothly even in fullscreen.
My system: Debian Squeeze, 1 GB RAM, Pentium 4 2.6 GHz, ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 4650. I forced XAA 2D acceleration in xorg.conf since a known bug in Firefox with proprietary ATI 2D acceleration.

I believe that hardware-accelerated video rendering was only fully completed for Linux in Flash Player version 11. Please try the new version and if it works for you then change the status to Fix Released. If it doesn't work then please change the status to Confirmed. If you don't care about this bug any more then you don't need to change anything -- it will expire automatically.
