Bug Description

Binary package hint: kpackagekit

Unable to install sun java using kpackagekit due to the license agreement in the deb file.
dpkg-reconfigure debconf is configured for Kde and Medium. Have tried with low warnings as well.
If installed using aptitude, it opens dialog and after license agreemnt its installed.

I can confirm this issue. Kpackagekit basically fails whenever you have to answer any questions or supply any information during installation. One other example is when you install mysql-server package. Installation fails because you have to supply the mySQL root password.

Same on my machine using Kubuntu 9.04 RC I was not able to install sun-java. KPackageKit was unable to display Sun's licence. The sad thing is I was not able to sort this problem with KpackageKit only. Even if I wanted to give up installing Java and proceed with installation of something else I had to use apt to do that.

kpackage doesn't like meta packages either. I tried to install kubuntu-restricted-extras from kpackage. It didn't install anything nor did it give an error. With apt-get everything seems to work fine.

This bug has been around at least since Hardy. First it affected adept-manager, and now kpackagekit. And yet, I believe there is a very simple fix:
    1) make kpackagekit depend on libqt-perl
    2) select the KDE front-end by default in debconf (at least in Kubuntu, since it is KDE-based)

Kubuntu 10.04 64bit, fresh install.

Kpackagekit fails to install sun-java6 packages, after having added the repository "partner" (I cannot understand why they moved java outside......when they know perfectly well that openJdk crashes every two seconds.)

However, Kpackage was not able to download the file, and interrupted the installation. I had to use Synaptic to fix the broken package and complete the installation.
Good work

Most likely will be resolved by having the PackageKit backends call a debconf gui over DBus, so bumping over to PackageKit.

The gnome-packagekit was also fixed to display debconf but it will probably be available only in Naty.
