Using Kubuntu/Dapper with KDE 3.5.5 (just fetched from kubuntu.org's repositories less than 20 minutes ago) and kde-guidance 0.6.7, this bug still exists. Also, trying to run `displayconfig` from a command line results in the same error as running it from ControlCenter->Peripherals->Display, as detailed at the top of this bug report.

For displayconfig that does not start I opened bug #63517 during edgy RC cycle but it is still unsolved in edgy official.

the symptom are the same but the reason seems different.

The error is different from the one in bug 32945, so I unmarked it as a duplicate. Do you still have this problem (with this python error) on Feisty with guidance 0.8.0?

This DPMS problem is fixed, if you encounter other problems, please open a new bug. (The backtrace should be different, not showing readDpms()
