Bug Description

Binary package hint: xfree86-driver-synaptics

The original source provides these files but ubuntu package does not provide them.

To develop tool for synaptics needs header files and .pc file.

Hi ikezoe,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

I'm not sure that this is necessary any more; AFAIK those files are only useful for SHMConfig, which is now deprecated in favour of XInput properties. Hiroyuki Ikezoe, can you confirm?

The header files are not only for SHMConfig. These are needed for XInput.
