Bug Description

$ lintian -Ivi ./gtkperf_0.40+ds-1_i386.deb
E: gtkperf: menu-item-creates-new-root-section Applications /usr/share/menu/gtkperf:2
N:
N: The menu item has a line that specifies a new section to put a menu
N: entry in, and this section appears right in the root menu. This is
N: almost certainly an error, no new sections should be added to the root
N: menu without discussion with the author of menu.

Is this intended?

Ugh? Which version of lintian do you use? Here on 2.2.10 (on Debian unstable) this warning isn't shown, as Applications is a valid root entry in the Debian menu.

We believe this to be a result of version skew between the menu, lintian, and gtkperf packages. It cannot be reproduced in current sid, which ought have the same menu hierarchy as Ubuntu.

Changed in gtkperf (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
