Bug Description

After editing the width and height settings in the recording profiles from 720x576 to 768x576 (PAL dimensions as suggested by the info on screen) live tv will not start. Changing the settings back to their original settings does not fix the problem. Live tv was working before this change.

Can you look in your mythtvfrontend.log and/or mythtvbackend.log files and report what gets logged there when you try and start LiveTV and it fails? Should be in /var/log/mythtv/

What format is your default in the backend setup?

Could you explain what you are asking a little more, sorry. Do you mean PAL/NTSC or something else. I have managed to fix this problem by upgrading the ivtv driver to a newer version.

I was first successful by using the tip driver as suggested here: http://www.uluga.ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=6096932&postcount=6

However after some system updates (sorry can't remember which) this stopped working again. I was then only able to get working livetv again by using the mercurial drivers from http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb

Howdy, and thank you for helping to make Mythbuntu better.
I assume you were reporting this issue against 8.10 / Intrepid?
I believe 9.04 (and alpha versions of 9.10) use a newer ivtv - does that resolve your issue?

Howdy, we really do appreciate you opening this ticket to help improve Mythbuntu, but it needs to be closed for a number of reasons. The biggest one is that the MythTV developers have turned their efforts to the next version (0.22) and beyond and are no longer fixing bugs on 0.21.

The Mythbuntu team has builds of MythTV 0.22 available on a PPA if you are interested in upgrading. Please follow the directions at http://mythbuntu.org/auto-builds to enable them. Please do not let the closing of this ticket dissuade you from opening a new ticket if this (or any other) problem occurs with 0.22.

WARNING: If you need to have the ability to revert back to 0.21, you will need to back up your database before upgrading since a 0.22 database can not be downgraded.

    Thanks!
