Binary package hint: xlockmore

Run Ubuntu 8.04 with eeepc patch on eeepc 900. Use xdm (before use gdm ; the same problem) and icewm for window manager. AT ther terminal type xlock -mode blank then screen is locked. Move the mouse to show the unlock screen, type correct password, xlock saying: Invalid login

xlockmore version 5.22-1.2 (according to dpkg -l | grep xlockmore)

I fixed it by changing the group of /etc/shadow to shadow and it is readable by group. Not sure why /etc/shadow is not in group shadow at first instance. Check another Ubuntu machine ; they have correct /etc/shadow.
